I Do Not Want To Become Him
I Do Not Want to Become Him is a project exploring identity formation through anxiety, inheritance, and the fear of repetition.
The work examines the tension between self-definition and the influence of another, focusing on the possibility of unconsciously reproducing behaviours, patterns, or ways of being that one attempts to resist. Through processes of observation, documentation, and controlled distortion, the project reflects on how identity is shaped as much by rejection as it is by internalisation.
Positioned between self-portraiture and projection, the work considers the instability of identity, where attempts to distance oneself from another can paradoxically reinforce their presence.
